I am so thrilled that your site is updated for 2003. My 10 year old twins and I are doing a unit study using the Iditarod. We were able to kick off our unit by seeing a sled dog race in Central Oregon at the beginning of January - the AttaBoy 300. Each of my children chose 2 mushers to follow including Doug Swingley and Melanie Shirilla. What a thrill!! We have been using our experience as an intro study to the Iditarod. Your site is full of great links and I really appreciate all of the information - should reduce my research time significantly - THANK YOU!

We are in full swing with the Iditarod. The girls are loving it. We did some last year, but you have this so nicely put together that I'm sure we will really learn a lot along w/the fun.

Your outline is wonderful! I appreciate your effort in putting this Iditarod unit together. This is the first time I have ever used this as teaching unit and my students are thoroughly enjoying it. This is the first time that I can honestly say they have exhibited a real zest for learning. It is so exciting to see my students rush in the door in the morning and huddle around the computer to find out their musher's position. Thank you so much.

This is my 6th year of homeschooling, and I asked my two daughters to choose a topic since I thought I might venture into unit studies with them. I am kind of nervous about not using your standard textbooks, but after much reading and study, have decided to go for it. Long story short, my girls chose the Iditarod as a study and I found your site. I have copied off of your study outline and think what you've done is great! Thanks for all of your research and hard work. My girls are animal lovers, especially dogs and horses. The crafts you have listed are wonderful. They can't wait to build the dog sled and sugar cube igloo. I realize the race isn't until March, but we're going to do the study in September when we start school. Thanks again!
